Principal's Message
Welcome Back, Dawgs! It is my hope that our faculty, staff, and students have had a summer full of rest and relaxation, and that everyone is ready for another successful year at Emanuel County Institute. A new school year always brings a fresh start, a blank slate, never forgetting how previous years have shaped us, and looking onward with refined goals to take on another year with an enhanced sense of tenacity, perseverance, and overall commitment to common goals. As we reflect on the 2024-2025 school year, we are proud of the continual efforts toward excellence in the area of teaching and learning, while also acknowledging that the work is never truly finished in developing and sustaining the achievements and culture we desire. The 2025-2026 school year at ECI brings another shift in our administration team, more new faces among our faculty, and additional facelifts to our facilities. Mrs. Christie Henry, a 1999 graduate of ECI, joins us as an Assistant Principal. She has most recently served as Assistant Principal at Twin City Elementary. Mr. Adam Robertson will continue to serve ECI as our Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. Additionally, Mrs. Katie Cowart will move into the Instructional Coach position, Mrs. Karen Moxley has made the shift into our Intervention Specialist role, and Ms. Mandy Rigdon has joined our team as the new High School Counselor. We are equally as excited about the new faces joining our staff as teachers and support staff. ECI is fortunate to be in the final phases of a brand new athletic fieldhouse adjacent to our middle school wing. The groundwork on this facility began in the fall of 2024, and we are pleased with the progress. We will enhance our focus of strengthening our community one student at a time throughout the 2025-2026 school year through targeted remediation and acceleration of our students, personalized learning, data-driven instruction, and tailored professional learning to move the needle on student achievement and maximize our culture of excellence.
While we are set to make continued positive changes in several aspects of our school, the rich traditions and family atmosphere dating back for decades will always remain two constants that we pride ourselves on in this small corner of the county. Emanuel County Institute relies on its teachers, students, and stakeholders to maintain our strength of school pride and overall efforts towards continued excellence. We continue to make gains academically, our student athletes prove to be successful in their respective programs, making playoff runs year after year, and our student organizations consistently represent us well at the regional, state, and national levels of competition. At ECI, we will continue to work diligently this year on school improvement efforts in the areas of content mastery, attendance, and Lexile levels. Our students are the priority at ECI, and we are committed to providing meaningful instruction, building relationships, and fostering a love of learning from the moment they enter our doors in 6th grade until they walk across the stage as graduates of our school.
Emanuel County Institute is more than a school building; it is a family. The students and teachers are the pillars, establishing a strong foundation for excellence, setting the bar high, and holding one another accountable. These firmly planted expectations have laid the groundwork for ECI to continue forward progress in the areas of academics, athletics, student organizations, and the overall well-being of our students. We encourage parents, community members, and other stakeholders to join us this school year in continuing the traditions of excellence at Emanuel County Institute.
Go Dawgs!
